Two Nights of Culture and Community
On March 14 and 15 at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center, OLAX de Borrego’s annual Una Noche Mexicana brought performers, families, volunteers, sponsors, and community members together for a two-night celebration of music, dance, and culture.
The program featured Mariachi Aurora de Calexico, Ballet Folklórico Flores del Desierto, and performances by Mariana Alvarez, Mia Garcia, Ignacio Lopez, Eli Hernandez, Israel Ochoa, Esmeralda Lopez, and Joel Torres. The event highlighted traditional music and folklórico dance while showcasing local talent.
Behind the scenes, OLAX, volunteers, families, and performers dedicated weeks of work to bring the production together. Efforts included prop creation, rehearsals, planning, public relations, and outreach, resulting in a well-coordinated event.
The first night included a sponsor gala, with guests gathering outdoors after the performance for food catered by Pablito’s. Sponsors, performers, families, and community members continued the evening together in a festive setting.
Sponsors included the Sandra A. Hansberger Foundation, Rams Hill Golf Club, Borrego Community Builders, Jim and Anne Wermers, Dan and Nancy Wright, Carlee’s, La Casa del Zorro, and Mirage Gas & Liquor, along with many others whose gala and general admission ticket purchases helped support the event.
Proceeds from Una Noche Mexicana support scholarships and future cultural events in Borrego Springs.
