EV Charger Funding Available in Unincorporated San Diego County

Up to $75,000 Available for EV Charger Installations
Property owners in unincorporated San Diego County can now apply for funding to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations through the County's Electric Vehicle Charger Program (EVCP).
The reimbursement-based program helps cover the cost of purchasing and installing Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers at qualifying locations, including retail centers, apartment complexes, offices, medical facilities, schools, hospitality businesses, industrial properties, faith-based organizations, and other publicly accessible sites.
Available Funding
Level 2 Chargers
- Up to $5,000 per charger
- Up to 75% of total project costs
- Additional $1,000 per charger in Equity Priority Areas
DC Fast Chargers (50–99 kW)
- Up to $50,000 per charger
- Up to 75% of total project costs
- Additional $5,000 per charger in Equity Priority Areas
DC Fast Chargers (100+ kW)
- Up to $75,000 per charger
- Up to 75% of total project costs
- Additional $10,000 per charger in Equity Priority Areas
Projects located within designated Equity Priority Areas may qualify for additional incentives and higher site funding limits.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include property owners within unincorporated San Diego County who plan to install EV chargers on sites such as:
- Retail parking lots
- Multifamily housing developments (4 or more units)
- Apartment complexes
- Office buildings
- Medical facilities
- Schools
- Hospitality properties
- Faith-based organizations
- Industrial sites
- Other easily accessible locations
Properties owned by federal, state, or tribal governments are not eligible.
Why the Program Matters
The County's goal is to expand publicly available EV charging infrastructure, improve access in underserved communities, support electric vehicle adoption, and help reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions as part of the County Climate Action Plan.

Applications open June 25, 2026.

- Review the Program Guidelines and Terms and Conditions.
- Review the required application forms.
- Submit the EVCP Site Application Form and receive a Project Unique Identifier.
