Funding Helps BMA Assist Residents

On June 12, 2025, the Borrego Ministers Association (BMA) received a $5,000 donation to support its ongoing work providing short-term assistance to residents in need. The check was presented at Rams Hill by Lead Housekeeper Patty Ramos and received by Fr. David Madsen, pastor of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and a BMA member.

Also present were:

  • Jesse Langridge, Rams Hill General Manager

  • Harry Turner, Rams Hill COO

  • Commander Dale Jones, American Legion Post 853 and BMA Director

  • Diane Johnson, BMA Member & Rotary President

Local Giving With Immediate Impact

The donation was made through For(e) the Love of Borrego, a community giving program funded by a portion of Rams Hill’s Stay & Play package earnings. Rams Hill, a public golf resort in Borrego Springs, includes an award-winning Tom Fazio-designed course, restaurant, and short-term accommodations. The program supports nonprofits making a direct local impact—like the BMA.

For over a decade, the Borrego Ministers Association has served as a quiet but essential lifeline for many in the community. The organization provides grocery coupons, rent and utility assistance, and transportation support for medical appointments. Its weekly food coupon program distributes more than $4,000 each month at local markets—offering dignity, flexibility, and practical help to those facing hardship. The BMA is volunteer-run, and 100% of donations go directly to aid—not overhead.

Now operating year-round, Rams Hill helps sustain local jobs in a town where summer employment can be hard to find. Its community giving is part of a broader effort to reinvest locally.

Rams Hill COO Harry Turner noted that supporting organizations like the BMA reflects the company’s values—helping where the need is clear and the impact is real.

Stay, Play, and Support Borrego Springs

In a place like Borrego Springs, partnerships between nonprofits and local employers fill critical gaps. The BMA continues to respond where help is most needed—quietly, efficiently, and with the full support of a generous community. Book a Rams Hill Stay & Play and support Borrego. A portion goes to local nonprofits through For(e) the Love of Borrego. Year-round stays make year-round impact.

If you’d like to support the BMA’s work directly—providing food, emergency assistance, and medical travel support to Borrego residents—you can make a tax-deductible donation or contact a member to learn more about how to get involved.

Community nonprofit completes construction phase, seeks funding for equipment The Borrego Springs Music Festival and its educational arm, the Borrego Academy of Music & Art (BAMA), have completed construction on a new recording studio in downtown Borrego Springs. The buildout included soundproofing and a technician window, with oversight provided by John Young, BAMA’s Technical Director and Vice President of the board. The studio is the latest milestone in the organization’s mission to provide music education to youth in a region where none of the local schools—elementary, middle, or high school—offer a formal music program. Borrego Springs serves a population of approximately 2,500 residents, and 87% of the 358 enrolled students in the school district are considered socioeconomically disadvantaged. John Young, a 34-year science center veteran and longtime volunteer, helped launch the studio space as part of his ongoing work with the music festival and its education efforts. He also teaches courses in piano, digital recording, and technology.
