Borrego Academy of Music and Art Launches New Rock Band Class for Young Musicians
Share
Weekly class invites musicians and singers ages 10 to 18 to explore rock-and-roll music from the 1960s through today.
Young musicians in Borrego Springs will have a new opportunity to rehearse and perform together when the Borrego Academy of Music and Art begins its new Borrego Rock Band class on Wednesday, Aug. 5.
The ongoing weekly class will meet Wednesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. at the academy, located at 590 Palm Canyon Drive, Suite 101, Borrego Springs.
The class is open to young people ages 10 through 18 who sing or play an instrument and want to explore rock-and-roll music from the 1960s through today. Participants must already have some proficiency with their instrument or vocals.
Students will have the opportunity to practice playing as a group, develop their timing and listening skills, and gain experience working with other young musicians.
The Borrego Academy of Music and Art offers free classes for Borrego Springs students in areas including guitar, keyboards, singing, drums, performing arts and recording technology. Its current Wednesday schedule also includes acting, advanced guitar and drums.
The academy is funded and operated by the Borrego Springs Music Festival, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting local music and performing arts education. The organization began offering free weekly music and art classes from its Palm Canyon Drive location in 2024.
Through its classes and performance opportunities, BAMA gives local students a place to learn instruments, explore recording technology and build confidence through the arts.
