Jimmy's Front Porch Revue

A Three-Day Celebration of Borrego Springs

Jimmy’s Outrageous Front Porch Revue once again delighted audiences over three vibrant days at the Borrego Springs Performing Arts Center. Known locally for its eclectic blend of entertainment, this annual event featured spirited musical performances, hilarious comedy sketches, and heartfelt moments that brought the community together.

On Saturday evening, the festivities included a special highlight—the presentation of the 2025 Desert Warrior Award by Anza-Borrego Foundation President Dave Van Cleve and Executive Director Bri Fordem. Recipients Diana and Lowell Lindsay were honored for their dedication to the desert region, recognized for their decades of advocacy and education. (see image below)

Honoring the Lindsays

Diana and Lowell Lindsay have spent nearly 40 years promoting and preserving the Anza-Borrego Desert through their extensive work in publishing, conservation, and education. Diana, an award-winning author, has written and edited numerous books on desert landscapes and history, while Lowell has contributed significantly to geology and natural science education. Their leadership in environmental stewardship has made a lasting impact on both the region and the people who explore it.

A Beloved Borrego Tradition

One of the unique aspects of Jimmy’s Front Porch Revue is how the cast members, many of whom return year after year, get to shape their performances. Each participant selects one or two songs and can enlist fellow cast members to help bring their vision to life. This creative freedom results in a dynamic and diverse lineup that keeps audiences entertained and makes each year’s revue special.

Jimmy’s Front Porch Revue continues to be a cherished community tradition, attracting both residents and visitors alike. This year's event once again highlighted Borrego Springs' unique charm, community spirit, and commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the Anza-Borrego Desert.

Be sure to attend next year’s event—it's a weekend of fun, laughter, and camaraderie that you won't want to miss!

BSCCA Brings Music to Community and Students The Marcia Forman Band performed a free community concert on Sunday, April 12, at the Borrego Springs Library, followed by an interactive concert for local students on Monday morning. The Sunday performance provided open access to live music for the community, while the Monday program brought musicians directly into a school setting, where students experienced a more hands-on and educational presentation. Student concerts are a core part of what the Borrego Springs Community Concert Association (BSCCA) provides each season. In addition to public performances, the organization coordinates programs that introduce students to live music, instruments, and different styles in a structured environment. Founded in 1975, BSCCA is an all-volunteer nonprofit that produces concerts for the community while also supporting music education for local youth. The elementary school concert reflected that mission in action, connecting Borrego Springs students with professional musicians and live performance. Elizabeth Renner and Jinny Perrin, both retired music teachers and BSCCA board members, help guide the student programs by bringing hands-on music education and experience directly to local students. The weekend highlighted both sides of BSCCA’s work: expanding access to live music locally and creating meaningful exposure to the arts for the next generation.
