Chase Infiniti from One Battle After Another shared a short thank-you video for Borrego Springs


Harry Medved, author, location expert, and host of Locationland on PBS SoCal, reached out to share a short video with the Borrego Springs film community. Locationland explores famous and lesser-known filming locations across Southern California.


Thanks to Fred Jee, founder of the Borrego Springs Film Institute, the video was shared with us to help spread it more widely. Fred Jee is a former State Park Ranger and a premier location-fixer known for his expertise in Borrego Springs film history, geography, and World War II military history. He has long helped filmmakers identify authentic desert locations in the area.


In this short clip, Chase Infiniti Payne, an American actress known for her roles in the limited series Presumed Innocent and the film One Battle After Another, thanks Borrego Springs, where scenes from the film were shot. She has also received award recognition for her performance in One Battle After Another.


A short video with local film value

The message is brief, kind, and direct. It is also another reminder of Borrego Springs’ connection to major film work and of the people helping keep that story visible.

Hawk Alert Borrego Swainson’s hawks roost in Borrego Springs

A recent Hawk Alert shared through the Borrego hawkwatch community reports a significant number of Swainson’s hawks currently roosting in Borrego Springs. Estimates based on multiple counts suggest 200 to 300 hawks are gathered overnight. This is part of the annual spring migration, when large numbers of Swainson’s hawks pass through the Borrego Valley. The migration typically runs from mid-February through March and into April, with peak activity often occurring in mid to late March.

by Fr. Michael Plekon All Christians see the days before Jesus’ death, burial and being raised as a holy week. Much of the liturgy we have for it, especially the last Three Days, comes from observances in Jerusalem recorded by a Spanish nun, Egeria, in the 300s. Still today, the processions on Palm Sunday and later after Good Friday are carried out by Christians of diverse church backgrounds in the Holy City. For some, Palm Sunday’s cries of “Hosanna” float over to the “Hallelujahs” of Easter Sunday. So much is missed if one does not come to the services during the week. Indeed, it is a lot to go to church not once but three more times in a week, but those who do come away with a deepened sense of what we celebrate around Easter every year.
