Why the Name Yellow Woman Ranch?

Video Transcript: Rossy Sanchez

One day, right after we had just moved in, my partner and I were looking over some of the art glass that's on the property, and one piece in particular caught my eye. This free spirited woman, arms raised, wild yellow hair flowing. That's me, I said. I used to have long, curly hair, and I do that all the time.

And there you go, the yellow lady, said my partner, the yellow woman, said I. And that's how the ranch that used to be known as Smoke Tree is now known as the Yellow Woman Ranch, and how the Women's Desert Retreat started to materialize. And the beautiful logo created by Ellie Beltran is based on the original art class, which turned out to be a mermaid, of all things.

And even though I'm, um, not a mermaid, needless to say, I was born in Cuba, and I've always been a consummate beach bum before I became a desert lover. So another personal connection.
